The purpose of Mission Training is to help members better understand how to serve our mission and simplify the way the ALA operates at all levels so that more members feel welcomed and included. In this two-day workshop, members learn simplified ways to put the ALA’s outreach programs in action, plus ask questions, voice concerns, and interact with national leaders.
The structure includes interactive presentations by each of the ALA’s pods, a simplified way any Auxiliary unit with limited resources can work programs effectively. Pods are groups of similar ALA mission delivery programs:
- Veteran/Military Support & Advocacy – Legislative, National Security, Poppy, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation
- Youth Development – Children & Youth, Liaision to Child Welfare Foundation, Juniors, ALA Girls State/Nation
- Family Support Programs – Americanism, Education, Community Service, National Chaplain
- Membership Development – Membership, Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Leadership, Public Relations, Long Range Strategic Planning, American Legion Auxiliary Foundation, Advisory
- Organizational Support – Constitution & Bylaws, Finance, Cavalcade, Past Presidents Parley, Audit, Parliamentarian, National Historian
